Dato’ Siti Nurhaliza – Dialah di Hati English Translation
Lyrics by: Habsah Hassan
Dialah di Hati / He’s the One in My Heart
Whispers of the wind carrying hearsays
The same tales being repeatedly proclaimed
Why do I become the target
One glance multiple conjectures
It really hurts
Like an open book
There’s truly no secrets
Read on, try to know
Wisely
Who I really am
Even if there was a sea or a mountain
of gems on my right and left
As long as my heart is still beating
Until the time stops ticking
He’s the one in my heart
Why do I become the target
One glance multiple conjectures
It really hurts
Like an open book
There’s truly no secrets
Read on, try to know
Wisely
Who I really am
Even if there was a sea or a mountain
of gems on my right and left
As long as my heart is still beating
Until the time stops ticking
He’s the one in my heart
There is no second choice
The first until the end of my life
Only Him
There is no second choice
The first until the end of my life
Only Him
There is no more secret
Just stop asking, giving riddles
An eternal love
My love that is pure in my heart
Even if there was a sea or a mountain
of gems on my right and left
As long as my heart is still beating
Until the time stops ticking
He’s the one in my heart
Even if there was a sea or a mountain
of gems on my right and left
There is no second choice
The first until the end of my life
Only Him.
Original Malay lyrics
Bisikan sang bayu membawa perkhabaran
Dongengan yang sama dicanang berulang
Mengapakah diri dijadikan sasaran
Sekilas pandangan pelbagai andaian
Sungguh terkilan
Seumpama naskah yang terbuka
Sesungguhnya tiada rahsia
Bacalah kenalilah
Dengan bijaksana
Siapa aku yang sebenar
Kendati selautan segunung
Permata di kanan dan kiri
Selagi jantungku berdegup
Hingga tiba saat terhenti
Dialah dihati
Mengapakah diri dijadikan sasaran
Sekilas pandangan pelbagai andaian
Sungguh terkilan
Seumpama naskah yang terbuka
Sesungguhnya tiada rahsia
Bacalah kenalilah
Dengan bijaksana
Siapa aku yang sebenar
Kendati selautan segunung
Permata di kanan dan kiri
Selagi jantungku berdegup
Hingga tiba saat terhenti
Dialah dihati
Tiada pilihan kedua
Pertama hingga akhir usia
Hanya dia
Tiada pilihan kedua
Pertama hingga akhir usia
Hanya dia
Tiada rahsia lagi
Usah bertanya berteka teki
Cinta yang abadi
Cintaku yang suci dihati
Kendati selautan segunung
Permata di kanan dan kiri
Selagi jantungku berdegup hingga tiba saat terhenti
Dialah dihati
Kendati selautan segunung
Permata di kanan dan kiri
Tiada pilihan kedua
Pertama hingga akhir usia
Hanya dia.

My 2 cents thoughts while translating...
It’s the month of Ramadhan yay~! And again, I decided to translate
Siti Nurhaliza’s song…yay! Hehe well, there will probably be a lot more
translation for her songs though since I listened to her a lot when I was
younger. Even now I still occasionally listen to her old songs.
Since this month is a holy month for Muslims, I thought it would
be nice to translate a more spiritual songs as a sign of respect for this sacred
month of the year. So, this song is perhaps more on the spiritual side of Dato’
Siti’s music as it stresses on her one and only eternal love, God. This is
actually mostly in the chorus. The rest of the song feels more like the story
of her life as a celebrity being vulnerably exposed to the eyes of the public.
When it comes to celebrities, I sometimes thought about how
they are actually one of the minorities facing against a majority named as the
public. It’s easy for people to forget that and often times, they’re seen as a
target for people to vent out their frustration on. Sad, isn’t it? And also,
the only reason why I realized this is because one of my favourite celebrities
pointed it out. If not, I would probably still be in ignorance. It makes me
think about how we’re always fighting for the rights of minorities but we
sometimes forget that celebrities are one of those minorities too.
Actually, at first I was confused on what was the coherence
between the chorus and the rest of the song. She is talking about her
celebrity life and then saying about her devotion to God. Later on, I concluded
that perhaps there was a time when people started asking about the love or the
one in her heart, making baseless conjectures and assumptions on her private
matters. She then answers them that the one in her heart has always been and
always will be, God.
Then again, all these are just my own interpretation of the
song. “Dia” or “the one” may also refer to a person though, not God… then this
whole essay of mine is void hahaha. Yep, this is a disclaimer ;)
