Dato' Sri Siti Nurhaliza - Anta Permana English Translation

Songwriters: Ezra Kong and Hael Husaini Anta Permana / Ad Infinitum Stream of consciousness the heart’s melody Heart and soul that complements each other Just like, just like the sun’s heat A true love Out of sight (but) close to the heart If it is yearned (then) don’t stray To where, to where will it go Being tried, tested Oh when awoken everything is A border of illusions Even if the stars wouldn’t shine anymore As long as the love wouldn’t be betrayed Even if my last breath is drawn I’ll still love you For I am sure You’re irreplaceable Even the tongue can be bitten (by the teeth) Even more the love of mortals Being swayed, swayed by the winds Accompanying your love Oh when awoken everything is A border of illusions Even if the stars wouldn’t shine anymore As long as the love wouldn’t be betrayed Even if my last breath is drawn I’ll still love you For I am sure You’re irreplaceable Let the consideration, love a...

Mirwana & Jay Jay – Aku Tanpa CintaMu English Translation

Mirwana & JayJay – Aku Tanpa CintaMu English Translation

Lyrics by: Mujahid Abdul Wahab

Aku Tanpa CintaMu / Me Without Your Love

I have broken my promise yet again
Though it’s the thousandth times
I repeated myself
I will never do it again
Will You accept my love again
After I have turned back
From Your sight
That was dim due to how ignorant I was

Why does Your love never come
And bloom inside my heart
So that I will keep being happy
Without my love You will stay there
Me without Your love
Is like a kite without its string

I have broken my promise yet again
Though it’s the thousandth times
I repeated myself
I will never do it again
Will You accept my love again
After I have turned back
From Your sight
That was dim due to how ignorant I was

Is there any trace of mercy left?
Begging for Your love oh God
For me to hang on and rely on
Here I will keep on trying
To gain Your love
Even if its thorns are painfully piercing.

Original Malay lyrics

Telah ku mungkiri janjiku lagi
Walau seribu kali
Ku ulang sendiri
Aku takkan tempuh lagi
Apakah kau terima cintaku lagi
Setelah ku berpaling
Dari pandanganMu
Yang kabur kerna jahilnya aku

Mengapa cintaMu tak pernah hadir
Subur dalam jiwaku bloom
Agarku tetap bahagia
Tanpa cintaku tetaplah Kau di sana
Aku tanpa cintaMu
Bagai layang-layang terputus talinya

Telah ku mungkiri janjiku lagi
Walau seribu kali
Ku ulang sendiri
Aku takkan tempuh lagi
Apakah kau terima cintaku lagi
Setelah ku berpaling
Dari pandanganMu
Yang kabur kerna jahilnya aku

Masihkah ada sekelumit belas
Mengemis kasihMu Tuhan
Untukku berpaut dan bersandar
Aku di sini kan tetap terus mencuba
Untuk beroleh cintaMu

Walau ranjaunya menusuk pedih.

My 2 cents thoughts while translating...

To be honest, I translated this Islamic song for the holy month of Ramadhan but then I didn’t manage to post it before the month ends >.< lol This song is a collaboration between a solo singer JayJay and a vocal group named Mirwana in 2004. Ever since I was young, this song leaves a strong impression on me mostly due to its melancholic melody and its emotional peaks in the chorus. Listening to it again kind of makes me go on a trip. A sentimental trip? Haha

Anyway, this song makes me think about the concept of hope in Islam. Though this song doesn’t exactly stress on hope with lyrics such as “will You accept my love again, after I have turned back” and “Is there any trace of mercy left?”, I couldn’t help thinking about how Allah Himself is actually hope itself. Because the answer to these questions is “yes”. Yes, He will.

To be honest, when I read the lyric “Is there any trace of mercy left?”, it almost feels like a blasphemy because in Islam we believe in the name of God as the Most Merciful. There’s no one more merciful than God and His Mercy is overflowing. And so this lyric almost make it seem like God’s Mercy is limited. Then again, as I took in the whole meaning/story of the song, it does make sense to have that thought.

The persona in the song is portrayed as someone who have committed sin again and again. In their perspective, when the world have become so dark and the countless sins start to blot out all the light, it is easy for them to lose the hope of seeing any trace of light. It is when the sinners start to question ‘Would He listen to someone like me who have sinned a lot?’ and they will be so ashamed to even pray and just stop trying altogether. When in fact all believers have sinned in the past. There’s no normal human being on earth who are perfectly without sin in their record. The only difference lies on what attitude they have after doing the sin.

Truly, I believe that at the end of the tunnel there will definitely be light. No matter how dark and hopeless it seems in the beginning, there will definitely be an opening that will bring you out of that darkness. Just like how He made the day replaces the night, I am sure darkness will definitely be replaced by light.

This sounds almost like a tazkirah lol. Oh well.
