Dato’ Siti Nurhaliza and Judika – Kisah Ku Inginkan English
Translation
Lyricist: Ivan Lahardika
Kisah Ku Inginkan / The Story I Longed For
I have set the direction
That I will face for the rest of my life
As I have found
The story that I longed for and dreamt of
I have anchored my heart
That had been sailing aimlessly this whole time
Now I have found
The affection that I seek
An unwavering love
The search for the way of love finally ends
Concluding with our sacred bond
The anxiousness felt in the soul finally stops
Now me and you
Is not bounded by time
Is not forbade to be as one
Because you are officially mine
We will protect
The sacred oath that has been pledged
And to be loyal to each other forever
The search for the way of love finally ends
Concluding with our sacred bond
The anxiousness felt in the soul finally stops
Now me and you
Is not bounded by time
Is not forbade to be as one
Because you are officially mine
We will protect
The sacred oath that has been pledged
And to be loyal to each other forever
Me and you
Is not bounded by time
Is not forbade to be as one
Because you are officially mine
Bonded by
The sacred oath that has been pledged
And to be loyal to each other forever
Must stay together
Even when the body ages
In love
Forever
Forever
Forever
Forever.
Original Malay lyrics
Telah ku tentukan arah
Yang akan ku tempuh di sisa hidupku
Kerna telah ku temukan
Kisah yang ku inginkan dan ku impikan
Sudah ku tambatkan hati
Yang selama ini berlayar tak pasti
Kini telah ku temui
Kasih yang aku cari
Cinta yang pasti
Berakhir sudah pencarian jalan cinta
Berlabuh di ikatan suci kita
Berhenti sudah keresahan dalam jiwa
Kini aku dan kamu
Tak terbatas oleh waktu
Tak terlarang untuk menyatu
Kerna kau rasmi milikku
Kita akan menjaga
Janji suci yang telah terikrar
Dan saling setia selamanya
Berakhir sudah pencarian jalan cinta
Berlabuh di ikatan suci kita
Berhenti sudah keresahan dalam jiwa –both-
Kini aku dan kamu
Tak terbatas oleh waktu
Tak terlarang untuk menyatu
Kerna kau rasmi milikku
Kita akan menjaga
Janji suci yang telah terikrar
Dan saling setia selamanya
Aku dan kamu
Tak terbatas oleh waktu
Tak terlarang untuk menyatu
Kerna aku dan dirimu
Dalam ikatan
Janji suci yang telah terikrar
Dan saling setia selamanya
Tetap harus bersama
Meski raga menua
Di dalam cinta
Selamanya
Selamanya
Selamanya
Selamanya.

My 2 cents thoughts while translating...
I was listening to some of Dato’
Siti’s most recent songs and then I stumbled upon this majestic song, “Kisah Ku
Inginkan”, a duet between her and one of Indonesia’s top vocalists, Judika. Of
course, I already knew of how amazing Tokti’s voice is but that was the first
time I listened to Judika …and I immediately fell in love with his voice in the
song..! Oh wow his vocal tone is so distinct and it went straight to your
heart…or is it only mine lol. Anyway, both of their voices in the song matches
so well and it immediately became one of my favourite songs of Dato’ Siti.
After that, my hands started to itch to translate the song lyrics and post it
here haha.
I actually had fun translating
the song since I managed to find most of the suitable English words that I
believe would convey the meanings of its original words without changing much
of its sentence structure. Also in the lyric, there are some words that are
typically used for ships such as ‘tambatkan’ and ‘berlabuh’. Well, ‘tambat’ can
also be used poetically to mean ‘to catch (a person’s heart)’ but here the
meaning is more to its most common meaning which is ‘to tie something
(typically boat/ship or even livestocks) to a pole or something to prevent it
from going away’ or in simple words, ‘to anchor’. So, here she has anchored her
heart that was akin to a ship from sailing away as she had found the one.
Then, there’s the word ‘berlabuh’
which literally means ‘to dock’. But since I don’t think it sounds good or even
makes much sense if I translate “berlabuh di ikatan suci kita” as “docking at
our sacred bond”…lol so I translated it as “concluding with our sacred bond”.
Though it was fun
translating this, I actually hesitated a bit when deciding to translate this
due to its coming from an Indonesian lyricist (I think? Correct me if I’m
wrong) since I’m not an Indonesian. “Seindah Biasa” is also the same. Even
though there are some Malay and Indonesian words that are similar to each other
in its meaning, still, Indonesian is a whole different language from Malay. So
I always become cautious if I saw the lyricist as Indonesian and I will read
the lyrics first before deciding to translate it to see if there are many words
that I am not familiar with. If it’s only one or two words then I can just
google it but if it’s a lot then I’ll just give up on translating it haha.
